The Seven Vials
Introduction
The seven vials (bowls) are described in Revelation chapter 16. Similarly to the seven seals and the seven trumpets, the vials represent events. From the many theories that I have read on these, I believe that they best fit recent events starting in the year 2000. Each vial begins on Shemini Atzeret, or the eighth day of the Feast of Taberncales, according to the Jewish calendar, and lasts one Jewish year. This conincides with other Biblical prophecies concerning the overcomers and the Age of Tabernacles.
The First Vial
Revelation 16:1-2 – And I heard a great voice out of the sanctuary saying to the seven messengers, ‘Go away, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God to the earth;’ and the first did go away, and did poor out his vial upon the land, and there came a sore – bad and grievous – to men, those having the mark of the beast, and those bowing to his image. (YLT)
The first vial begins on Shemini Atzeret in the year 2000, which falls on October 21. It lasts until October 8, 2001. The Bible describes this vial to a punishment on those with the mark of the beast. I have already talked about this in my articles on The Beast and in Numbers . Basically, this means that it has to do with money. The third largest drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average in all of history was on September 17, 2001, the first day of trading after the destruction of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. The Dow Jones dropped 684.81 points, or 7%, closing at 8,920.70. So both the physical destruction of the Twin Towers and the financial destruction of the economy are part of the first vial.
The Second Vial
Revelation 16:3 – And the second messenger did pour out his vial to the sea, and there came blood as of [one] dead, and every living soul died in the sea. (YLT)
Revelation 13:1 – And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and I saw out of the sea a beast coming up, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns ten diadems, and upon its heads a name of evil speaking, (YLT)
The second vial in Revelation 16 is described as being poured out into the sea. This is not the literal sea, but a spiritual sea as seen in Revelation 13, which refers to the beast of the sea. Remember that the beast refers to false religions and teachings. In January 2002, the corruption of the Catholic Church was revealed when Father John Geoghan was found guilty of sexual abuse of a young boy. Geoghan was accused of the sexual abuse of more than 130 children. In August 2003, he was murdered in his prison cell. This case caused everyone to question the authority of the entire Catholic Church. Many other cases of other priests followed. Newsweek claimed that this has been going on for a while and is a problem among Catholics.
“The best guess is that between 35 and 50 percent of Roman Catholic priests are homosexual. ‘Hypocrisy is almost too weak a word for what the hierarchy is doing,’ says Mark D. Jordan, a professor of religion at Emory University and a gay Catholic. ‘If there were no homosexuals in the priesthood, we would soon cease to have a functioning church” – Newsweek, May 6, 2002
The Catholic Church is not the true Christian Church. The pope claims to have higher authority than Christ. For a compassion of Catholicism vs. Christianity see here.
