Twenty-Three
Biblical meaning: death
Hebrew words: kaph-gimel (open hand and lifting up)
Significance: although we cannot escape physical death, salvation allows us to escape spiritual death
Examples:
1. Gen. 27:42 – the 23rd Jacob’s name is mentioned, Rebekah tells Jacob that Esau is planning to kill him

2. Gen. 47:30-31 – the 23rd time Israel’s name is mentioned, Israel gives instructions on where to bury him

3. Deut. 31:14 – the 23rd time Joshua’s name is mentioned, God tells Moses that he will die soon

4. Rom. 1:28-32 – 23 things are listed that are worthy of death

Biblical meaning: priesthood
Hebrew words: kaph-daleth (open hand and door)
Examples:
1. Gen. 39:6 – the 24th time Joseph’s name is mentioned, Joseph is put in charge over all of Potiphar’s possessions

2. 1 Chron. 24:7-19 – David organizes 24 priests

3. Psalm 72 – list of 24 things Jesus will do as high priest

Hebrew words: kaph-hey (open hand with inspiration)
Examples:
1. Gen. 28:1 – the 25th time Isaac’s name is mentioned, he blesses Jacob

2. Gen. 48:8-9 – the 25th time Israel’s name is mentioned, he blesses his grandsons; Ephraim and Manasseh

3. 2 Chron. 20:31 – King Jehoshaphat ruled for 25 years

4. Ezekiel 40:1-30 – Ezekiel has a vision of the new temple in the 25th year of exile, whose east, north, and south gates all have a width of 25 cubits, also whose rooms in the inner court are 25 cubits in width

Examples:
1. Deut. 34:9 – the 26th time Joshua’s name is mentioned, he is filled with the spirit of wisdom, which demonstrates power

2. 1 Sam. 17:39 – the 26 time David’s name is mentioned, David is equipped with a sword to fight Goliath, which represents power

3. Acts 9:40 – the 26th time Peter’s name is mentioned, he raises Tabitha (Dorcas) from the dead

4. Acts 16:18 – the 26th time Paul’s name is mentioned, he casts out a demon in demonstration of God’s power
