I know its been a long time since I last wrote a Bible Truth, but I’m back now and hopefully I will have more time to write some more. One interesting topic I came across was the psychology of birth order. Whether you were the first, second, third, or fourth child born has a very large effect on what kind of person you are. This also explains how God made you and His purpose for your life. Here are some general trends seen for each child. With their first born child, parents are strict, demanding, and overprotective. This causes first born children to desire high achievements, better grades, and successful careers. They display qualities of leadership, organization, dependence, accommodation, and persistence. Problems first borns have include pessimism, unrealistic goals, and high stress due to criticism and failure. The second born child can be labeled as the troublemaker or scapegoat. Instead of desiring high achievements, they are more relaxed, and focus more on having a lot of friends. They become good at settling arguments, negotiation, and compromise. The third born child is the goody too shoes or loner who flies under the radar. They don’t get attention from their achievements or by being a troublemaker by their parents, so they try to be very pure and go out of their way to help others to gain their praise. They become people pleasers who have the gifts of serving and giving. The fourth child is labeled as the clown of the family. They gain attention from their parents by being funny. They gain friends by always cracking jokes when others are stressed out from other areas in their life. As adults, they gain the gift of encouragement. Note that these are trends, but that does not mean you may exude qualities that do not match your birth order. It is just something to think about in figuring out who you are as a person and what God plans to do with you. Your childhood is very important in shaping who you are. If you understand and acknowledge your childhood, you can be a far greater and stronger person then you already are. Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (ESV) Ephesians 4:13-14 – until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer by children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schems.
